HBK CPAs & Consultants, LLC
With over two decades of professional experience to her credit, Jody has excelled as a tax manager at the Sarasota office of HBK CPAs & Consultants, LLC, since 2023.
In this role, she manages a book of business ranging from small individual clients to multi-million dollar companies and everything in between. Her career began in banking from 1997 to 2002. She then transitioned to assistant project manager and executive administrative assistant for a Sarasota-based real estate developer until 2010. Following this period, Jody served as a project coordinator for a painting subcontractor and later became the director of operations for a general contractor where she played a pivotal role in capturing a large portion of the short-lived foreclosure renovation market. Before her current position, she grew from paraprofessional to associate and senior associate at HBK CPAs & Consultants, LLC from 2016 to 2023.
An expert in construction accounting and project management, Jody has demonstrated a consistent ability to adapt and excel within her field. Her journey through various roles has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s intricacies and challenges. Her dedication to continuous improvement and her hands-on approach have been instrumental in her success. Jody’s academic background includes earning a Master of Business Administration from Everglades University in 2014 and a Bachelor of Science in construction management, with honors, from the same institution in 2011. She also obtained her Enrolled Agent credential from the Internal Revenue Service in 2023 and is permitted to represent clients in front of the IRS.
Jody attributes her success to her adaptability and passion for learning, which have allowed her to thrive in every role she has undertaken. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Jody is committed to giving back to her community through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and serving as a team leader for the American Cancer Society. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, and Local Chapters of Business Women.
- My favorite vacation spot is deep in the woods anywhere with my feet in the earth. It profoundly destresses me from my very busy corporate life.
- I look for volunteer opportunities in my community and I’m also a monthly donor to a few local branches of national non-profit organizations.
- I’d rather be 100 years in the past. I feel like I would have been able to help make a difference (or at least try!) in the women’s and civil rights movements.
